Job Description
The Senior Procurement Advisor will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic procurement initiatives in alignment with organisational objectives. Their responsibilities extend to coordinating spending across departments, promoting consistent procurement practices, and offering expert guidance to enhance procurement expertise. The successful applicant will be tasked with developing and communicating policies and procedures, ensuring compliance through internal audits, and leading sourcing activities, procurement processes, and tender evaluations.
Furthermore, they handle written correspondence, reports, and research tasks as required, contributing significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement function within the organization.
This position is based in Derby with housing or potential for FIFO opportunities for the successful applicant. This position is offered as a 3 year contract with a base salary of $120,000 plus generous allowances (up to $22,855), housing, superannuation (11% & up-to 7% Council matching), and 6 weeks annual leave.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Law or business qualification at degree level, or sufficient work experience in the area of interpreting legislation and its application, particularly in the Local Government and procurement context.
* More than five years’ experience in the delivery of procurement services and contract preparation in a local, state or federal government setting.
* Demonstrated experience in a procurement team including knowledge and understanding of procurement policies, guidelines and procedures within a local and public sector environment.
* Experience with the governance of procurement and/or contracts with experience in a Local Government context being preferred.
* Experience in the use of online procurement systems such as Tenderlink/Vendorpanel, and use of contract management computer systems is desirable.
* Exposure to corporate governance functions, in systems/process analysis and development, and preparation of submissions and reports is desirable.
* Exposure to risk management systems and reporting systems is desirable.
* A National (or Federal) Police Clearance (no more than 6 months old) is required for this position.
