Consultant Neuro, Head and Neck Radiology
We have a dedicated interventional neuroradiology service providing procedures such as mechanical thrombectomies, aneurysm coiling, and stenting. The department has invested in Brainomix AI for CTA and CT perfusion analysis. While neurointerventional skills are not required for this position, the candidate should be able to independently report CT and MRI head and neck angiograms and CT perfusions to support the service.
The role includes reporting for a separate diagnostic neuro on-call service, which is consultant-led. The on-call consultant is expected to report neuro urgent AE and inpatient CT scans from 17:00 to 20:00 and 08:00 to 09:00 on weekdays, and from 08:00 to 18:00 on weekends.
Our hospital is also a treatment site for thyroid and head and neck malignancies, with radiotherapy and oncology treatments provided at Queen's Hospital. Head and neck surgeries are performed in collaboration with Barts and UCL. The department handles a large caseload of head and neck and thyroid ultrasounds, FNA, and biopsy requests, and the candidate is expected to be competent in these procedures. Additionally, we offer an alcohol ablation service for thyroid cysts.
