Overview
Bring your skills to the mix as an Associate Director in River Engineering, you’ll play a vital role in every aspect of river engineering and flood defence on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure with opportunities to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad.
We specialise in all aspects of river engineering within multiple challenging and engaging sectors such as Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy, and Cities & Development. We continue to provide industry‑leading solutions through the project lifecycle, adding value through client‑side support as well as construction phases. We currently have opportunities in our Bristol, Exeter, Birmingham offices.
Your role
* Own and direct teams who undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, achieving a high quality level.
* Define briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
* Successfully manage time and budgets to meet key project milestones and programmes.
* Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
* Set quality assurance standards in design.
* Grow, develop and manage engineering capability within the practice.
About you
* Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent.
* Experienced in owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
* Comprehensive knowledge of flood walls, embankments, weirs, hydraulic structures, culverts, scour protection, access and accessibility, and construction logistics.
* Familiarity with current UK design standards, guidance and working practices.
* Proficient in delivering both traditional engineering and environmentally focused solutions using nature‑based strategies.
