Job purpose:
To effectively and efficiently manage the company’s manufacturing and purchasing team. Ensuring products meet customer’s expectations and equipment is delivered on time.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Responsible for the assembly and fabrication operations. Maintain the production manufacturing system, including purchasing, ensuring that parts and equipment are scheduled then manufactured in a cost effective and timely manner.
Planning a dynamic schedule of work to balance manufacturing and meet customer expectations. Chair weekly production meetings, liaising with the Design and Sales Teams.
Manage the company’s supply chain of supplier and sub-contractors.
Develop, train and motivate the team to improve productivity and achieve targets. Undertake regular appraisals, ensuring there is ongoing training to continually improve key knowledge and skills.
Responsible for the production and purchasing IT system. In conjunction with the Design team ensure production costs are being monitored and bill of materials are kept up to date. Reviewing ongoing manufacturing work in progress and stock financial reports for accuracy and liaising with the Accounts department.
Assist the sales and design teams with customer enquiries for specialist products.
Responsible for production and purchasing in regards to Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental aspects.
On an ongoing basis identify opportunities to improve systems and work practices.
