St Margaret’s Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for an Events Manager to join our team. Salary: £35,336.97 to £38,036.26 per annum, depending on experience Location: Yeovil or Taunton office Contract: 12 months fixed term Hours: 37 hours per week. We are also happy to support part time working of 30 hours per week This role has a working pattern of Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. The role will you to represent the hospice, throughout Somerset, out of working hours including evenings and at weekends. You won’t just be joining a fantastic team – you’ll be part of a welcoming, community minded charity. Our mission is to provide excellent specialist palliative care for patients and support to their families. As Events Manager, you will play a leading role in the planning, development, and delivery of St Margaret’s Hospice’s fundraising events and campaigns during the year. This is a key position within the Income Generation team, where you will take ownership of a dynamic events portfolio, working closely with colleagues, volunteers, and community supporters to deliver high-impact events that raise vital income and awareness. You will lead on delivering hospice run flagship events as well as challenge events run by third parties. You’ll manage logistics, develop supporter relationships, and bring creativity and energy to our campaign calendar, in what is our 45th year and the first year of our new organisational strategy. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same, and where your ideas and leadership will directly support our mission. Your day-to-day work will include: Leading the planning, promotion, and delivery of a diverse range of fundraising events, such as our famous New Year Dip, Colour Run and many more! Managing event logistics from concept to delivery, including supplier liaison, risk assessment, permits, and on the day coordination. Working cross-functionally with fundraising, marketing, and volunteering teams to ensure consistent and effective event promotion. Building and nurturing relationships with event participants, donors, volunteers, suppliers, and community groups. Monitoring event budgets, evaluating ROI, and reporting on key KPIs and outcomes to support continuous improvement. Acting as a confident and professional ambassador for St Margaret’s Hospice at both internal and external events. Provide day-to-day line management for the Project Support Officer, offering guidance and support as needed, as well as overseeing leadership of volunteer teams supporting our events. What will you be good at? Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, demonstrating confidence and professionalism when engaging with a wide range of people including donors, volunteers, suppliers, and the public. A proactive and solution focused mindset, with the ability to work independently, while contributing effectively to the wider Income Generation team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for building lasting relationships and delivering compelling event experiences. Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel across Somerset and attend events at various locations. Experience in fundraising, volunteer management, and knowledge of digital fundraising or event platforms (e.g. Eventbrite, JustGiving, social media tools) is desirable but not essential.
