Job Summary
Thorneloe Lodge is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. You will support safe, effective medicines management across the patient population, working alongside the clinical pharmacist, pharmacy team, GP partners and admin.
Responsibilities
* Medicines Management & Clinical Support
o Conduct medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge, outpatient appointments and new patient registrations
o Support repeat prescription processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to practice protocols
o Review medication queries from patients and community pharmacies, escalating clinical issues appropriately
o Support deprescribing initiatives and prescribing audits under pharmacist or GP guidance
* Blood Monitoring & Safety Processes
o Track and manage required blood tests for high‑risk medications (e.g. DMARDs, anticoagulants, lithium)
o Monitor results, flag abnormalities and ensure timely follow‑up by the clinical team
o Ensure compliance with safety alerts, MHRA guidance and practice protocols
* Patient‑Facing Support
o Provide clear, supportive information to patients about prescriptions, medication changes and monitoring requirements
o Handle prescription queries and requests directly
* Operational & Administrative Duties
o Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient medication records
o Support the management of repeat prescribing systems, including synchronisation and waste reduction
o Contribute to quality improvement projects, audits and data collection for QOF and local incentive schemes
o Attend a formal appraisal with your line manager every year
o Maintain a clean, tidy and effective working area at all times
o Undertake all mandatory training
Experience
* Experience working in a Primary Care setting (essential)
* Understanding of QOF and Rx analysis (desirable)
Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
