Inspire the Next Generation: Become a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Law
Are you a law graduate with a passion for education and a desire to make a real impact on the next generation of legal professionals?
Join us at The University of Law as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) and kick-start your academic career in a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment. This comprehensive 2-year program offers a valuable opportunity for recent graduates, early career starters, or career changers to gain experience within the Higher Education sector.
Opportunities are available at our centrally located campuses in Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds. It is expected that you will work on campus, delivering courses throughout the year, with teaching scheduled between 9am and 5.45pm.
Education
Participants in the scheme are supported to become ready for a lectureship in Higher Education and will complete three awards within the two-year program:
* Associate Fellowship of Advance HE (year one)
* Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Teaching Qualification) (year two)
* Fellowship of Advance HE (year two)
The University covers all training and related tuition fees.
As Our Graduate Teaching Assistant, You Will
* Contribute significantly to the educational environment by assisting in developing teaching/learning materials, teaching and assessment tasks, workshops, tutorials, and seminars.
* Develop academic skills by supporting the teaching and learning process across various subject areas, primarily on our LLB programme starting September.
* Deliver high-quality teaching and support for learning using appropriate methods.
* Assess student work, including marking assessments and providing constructive feedback.
* Ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards in learning, teaching, and assessment practices.
* Signpost students on academic, pastoral, and wellbeing aspects during their learning journey.
* Fulfill administrative duties related to admissions, timetabling, examinations, assessments, or student attendance.
Is This You?
* Undergraduate degree in Law and/or completion of BPC/LPC/SQE or a Masters in a legal subject.
* Work experience demonstrating written and verbal communication, professional conduct, and adherence to policies and procedures.
* Some practical legal experience is desirable.
* Confident and articulate presentation skills.
* Ability to give constructive feedback confidently.
