What does a life as a Plumber look like: As a Plumber you will be installing, commissioning and de-commissioning, repairing, and maintaining Gas systems and appliances. You will be able to provide our customers with products and services that help them have peace of mind by assisting them to understand how their appliances work and how to manage their energy usage efficiently. With 30 years’ experience of delivering market-leading repairs and maintenance services, Mears is trusted to deliver more than 6,000 repairs daily to a portfolio of more than 1,000,000 homes nationwide. Mears Careers National Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to empower and challenge you; you will be trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. The Plumbing and Domestic Heating apprenticeship programme takes between 18 and 36 months to complete depending on previous experience and qualifications. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be registered on the GasSafe register for each appliance in which you are competent to undertake work on, and if you achieve a pass or distinction, you will be eligible to apply for membership with the IGEM, Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers as an Engineering Technician. Roles in Gas engineering are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving equipment, working at height, and working in confined spaces.
