This role sits within a small, high-performing team responsible for evaluating and making new venture and venture growth fund investments, managing an existing portfolio, and supporting wider activities across the Funds programme. The successful candidate will play an important role in analysing investment opportunities, supporting due diligence processes, and monitoring portfolio performance. You will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation, including legal, finance, risk, and external advisors. Key Responsibilities • Evaluate and critically assess proposals for new venture and growth funds, including analysing fund track records and team dynamics. • Support investment proposals through internal approval processes, including preparation of investment papers. • Conduct financial and investment analysis, financial modelling, and due diligence activities. • Work with internal teams and external legal advisors to review and negotiate investment legal documentation. • Assist in the ongoing management and monitoring of the investment portfolio. • Prepare portfolio analysis, reports, and updates for internal stakeholders. • Support advisory board participation and engagement with fund managers. • Address matters arising within investments by analysing issues and developing solutions. Essential • Strong understanding of financial accounts and financial reporting. • Excellent analytical and commercial awareness. • Advanced Microsoft Office skills. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Desirable • Experience in fund management, investment banking, corporate finance, or commercial lending. • Knowledge of venture capital funding and due diligence processes. • Experience advising or working with SMEs in a financial capacity. • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills and the ability to develop external networks. Qualifications • A numerate graduate with a degree in an analytical discipline such as Economics, Accounting, Law, Engineering, or Science, or equivalent analytical and operational experience. • A professional accounting qualification or investment management certificate is desirable.
