Join Roxburgh and Berwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau as a Volunteer Advisor and help people navigate life's challenges — from housing and debt to employment and benefits. You'll be at the heart of our service, making a real difference every day to the lives of those in the community.
We're particularly keen on hearing from you if you are based in Hawick or the surrounding areas, but if you're based further afield, don't let this put you off getting in touch
What You'll Do
* Interview clients in person or by phone to understand their situation
* Use our information systems to explore options and help clients make informed decisions
* Assist with benefit claims and forms, and help clients contact relevant agencies
* Maintain accurate and confidential case records
* Flag social policy issues that need wider attention
* Stay up to date through training and development
Who We're Looking For
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds — whether you're:
* Starting out and looking for experience
* Returning to work after a break
* Staying active in retirement
No previous advisor experience is needed — full training is provided.
Basic IT skills are helpful but not essential.

* Friendly, approachable, and non-judgmental
* Able to listen with empathy and gather relevant information
* Strong verbal and written communication
* Comfortable using web-based systems and word processing tools
* Committed to confidentiality and professionalism

Time Commitment
