The Role
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Release Management to join Robert Walters as a Consultant.
As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment within our clients' organisations, in return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support.

What You'll Do
* Define multi-year roadmaps and release strategies aligned with business, tech, and regulatory goals; establish governance, policies, standards, and audit controls for releases, environments, and compliance
* Design, hire, and manage team structure blending internal staff and external vendors for optimal cost-efficiency and delivery speed; collaborate with tech teams to promote DevOps, automation, and continuous delivery
* Own release calendar, governance, and checkpoints; oversee multi-platform planning and execution; track DORA metrics and KPIs (eg, deployment frequency, change success, MTTR); act as auditor contact with control evidence, trails, and enforcement proof
* Define and enforce environment life cycle policies (provisioning, refresh, decommissioning); ensure non-production stability, availability, and compliance (eg, GDPR security/privacy); manage data refresh/masking; prevent drift and uphold production parity
* Ensure compliance with DORA ICT changes, ISO 27001, and internal audits; maintain audit documentation/evidence; perform risk assessments for releases and environments and execute mitigations
* Act as escalation lead for release and environment issues; align priorities and resolve conflicts with business, product, and tech teams; manage third-party vendor relationships for environment and release services
* Build and lead high-performing team of release managers, environment coordinators, and analysts; promote collaboration, accountability, and improvement; enhance skills through training, mentoring, and succession planning
What You Bring
* Extensive experience in investment banking and financial services, with proven breadth across diverse environments and regulated settings
* End-to-end ownership mindset, driving transformation at pace in high-stakes releases and DevOps pipelines
* Hands-on expertise in GitLab, Terraform, and related tools; able to specify, implement, and optimize toolsets for software delivery
* Strong communicator with clear, demonstrated experience in regulated compliance, automation, and cross-team collaboration
