Your Day-to-Day
* Act as the project’s single point of authority and accountability for the EC&I engineering discipline
* Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
* Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Block Cable Diagrams, Schematics, Cable Schedules and General Arrangements.
* Checking and Approval of cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
* Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards.
* Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
* Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented
* Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages
* Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
* Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
* Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM
* Present EC&I engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
* Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
* Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
* Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
* Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company’s capabilities
* Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations
Who You Are
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
* At least 8+ years’ experience in industry of which at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level
* Ideally 5+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred
* Must be legally eligible to work in the UK
* Bachelor’s degree or higher
* Chartered Member of the IET
* Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied
* Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of EC&I design
* Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment
* Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671)

* Ability to undertake technical tasks and also disclose their technical limitations
* Willingness to mentor more junior engineers and designers.
* Ability to work well with all levels of management, executive leadership and support staff
* Work effectively in a team
* Ability to make independent decisions.
* A professional attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to problem solving
* Ability to identify discipline-related design changes and assess of their commercial impacts.
* Reinforces nuclear professionalism, and in particular Health, Safety and Environment Standards
* Actively promotes a positive delivery focussed culture where exceeding Client expectations is the norm
* Professional experience in management of small to medium-size teams and can demonstrate leadership qualities.
