A crucial aspect of the Senior Battery Quality Engineer role will be ensuring that end-to-end manufacturing processes and systems result in battery packs that meet and exceed customer quality requirements, providing a Modern Luxury experience throughout the vehicle life. Please note that in the short term, this role will be working out of the EPMC, Wolverhampton as part of the move towards electrification and then our site at Whitley, Coventry in the long term. WHAT TO EXPECT You will be responsible for leading a team made up of both JLR and Purchased Services process engineers, allocating resources effectively to ensure the team can meet the quality objectives and project deadlines. The role provides the exciting opportunity for periodic overseas travel to collaborate with leading technology suppliers. Additionally, this role allows you to be part of a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative team, offering significant scope for both personal and professional growth. • Support the delivery of robust battery manufacturing quality systems with particular focus on end-to-end coherence across the battery sub-systems (Pack, Stack, Frame and BEM) • Lead the immediate team in the development of DFMEA, PFMEAs, Control Plans and associated documentation • Supporting the deployment of Manufacturing Engineering Lessons Learned for battery components to ensure robust product, process and system design • Support the robust hand over of quality systems and documentation to Plant at Job 1 • Working cross functionally with manufacturing engineering management and leadership team to continually improve our internal quality processes to meet IATF standards and aspire to world class levels of quality • Benchmark manufacturing systems (specifically battery manufacturing quality systems) and work with stakeholders to establish justification to enact class leading quality systems. Work to embed knowledge in organisation via bills of process/similar WHAT YOU’LL NEED This is a high-profile position withing the GME-P team and the scope of the work will be both varied and demanding. There are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including: • You will be passionate and articulate about JLR quality, highly motivated and driven to deliver quality levels commensurate with Modern Luxury • Experience of DFMEA, PFMEAs, Control Plans and associated documentation. (Working knowledge of Byteworx and Reliasoft advantageous) • A good understanding of engineering including the ability to review engineering drawings (GD &T knowledge) • Experience within a manufacturing Operations environment • Battery pack architecture appreciation and an understanding of battery manufacturing processes and systems A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles.
