We’re partnering with a fast scaling, tech enabled US Property MGA backed by a leading global insurance platform.
They write a very successful property book across homeowners, flood, wildfire, and earthquake, and are building a data first underwriting engine designed to outperform traditional market approaches.
We are specifically looking for someone with an actuarial or catastrophe modelling background who has progressed their career into an underwriting field or wants to step into a leadership role and own underwriting performance.
The Opportunity
You’ll sit at the centre of underwriting, pricing, and analytics, working directly with the CUO, actuarial, and data teams.
This role is about translating data and models into underwriting decisions and leading a small, high calibre team to drive performance.
What You’ll Own
• Lead underwriting across a multi peril US property book with a focus on catastrophe exposed risks
• Manage and develop a small, technically strong team of underwriters and analysts
• Translate actuarial and CAT modelling insights into underwriting strategy and day to day decisions
• Own portfolio performance including growth, exposure, and loss ratio
• Partner closely with actuarial and analytics teams to refine pricing and risk selection
• Work with engineering and data teams to support API based underwriting and rapid iteration
• Support capacity strategy including reinsurance and portfolio optimisation
• Drive continuous improvement across underwriting processes, tools, and data usage

Candidate Profile
• Background in actuarial, pricing, or catastrophe modelling with exposure to property risks
• Experience influencing or making underwriting decisions
• Strong understanding of US property catastrophe risk including wildfire, flood, earthquake, and wind
• Comfortable managing and mentoring a small, high performing team
• Data first mindset with the ability to translate technical insight into commercial outcomes
• Comfortable operating in fast moving, ambiguous environments

• Reports into senior underwriting leadership within a CUO structure
• Works closely with actuarial, analytics, and engineering teams
