You'll have the chance to influence design across multiple or highly complex services, setting the standard for user-centred development. In addition to practical design, you'll be a key figure in mentoring junior designers, championing consistency, and embedding best practice across teams.?

We're looking for a confident design leader with proven experience in interaction or UX roles, including work aligned to the GDS service standard. You'll need strong knowledge of the GDS prototyping kit (or equivalent experience), experience collaborating with content design, service design and user research, and the ability to support others in making smart, evidence-based design decisions.
Job description
As a senior practitioner, you will:
1. work with Product Managers and Service Owners to develop design concepts.
2. set direction and assure the quality of design delivery across teams.
3. lead interaction design on multiple or highly complex services.
A key responsibility of this role will be driving best practice in interaction design, and advocating for an accessible, user-centred approach to development.
As a Senior Interaction Designer, you will:
4. support and mentor junior designers.
5. advocate for accessibility and inclusion in development and delivery.
6. develop consistent ways of working, in collaboration with other user-centred design disciplines.
7. facilitate the development of best practice.
Key Responsibilities
8. Lead interaction design activities and promoting design best practice on the Heat Networks digital programme but have opportunity to support projects across Ofgem.
9. Manage and mentor designers.
10. Grow and support interaction design in the Ofgem UCD community.
11. Support and mentor other UCD roles to have a better understanding of interaction design.
12. Increase awareness and understanding of interaction design across Ofgem.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
13. Develop and maintain design artefacts for projects and products.
14. Work with the Principal Designer to support the development of clear and efficient ways of working for user-centred design.
15. Develop and implement frameworks and templates contributing to best practice.
16. Embed interaction design in the development of new services and products.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
17. Professional experience in interaction or UX design role. (Lead criteria)
18. Experience using the GDS Design System, and ability to prototype using the GDS prototyping kit. (Lead criteria)
19. Professional experience of working with Service Design, Content Design and User Research.
20. Experience working to the GDS service standard.
21. Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
22. Proven ability to lead others to make good design decisions.
Desirable Criteria
23. Understanding of digital accessibility, relevant guidance and legislation.
24. Experience undertaking GDS Service Assessments, or equivalent experience elsewhere.
25. Experience of using Salesforce.
