We're looking for enthusiastic Support Assistants to work alongside our Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Nursing Staff in delivering high quality care across our Stroke Pathway (rotating between acute hospital care and a new Stroke Rehabilitation Unit).
* Daily care activities and recording observations
* Supporting patients with exercises, mobility and functional assessments
* Preparing equipment
* Helping ensure smooth and safe discharges
* Documenting care and communicating with the Therapy, Nursing team, patients and their families/carers
It is expected that the post holder will contribute to seven-day services

Main duties of the job
The Therapy Assistant role provides support and assistance to the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapist during multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of patients within the clinical team. The role requires excellent communication skills to be able to liaise with patient, families and their carer, as well as the immediate clinical and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role works clinically under the supervision of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and Assistant Therapy Practitioners for all aspects of patient care and treatment, equipment provision and documentation.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Maths and English Qualification - GCSE A-C, or grade 5-9, or functional Skills level 2
* QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
Knowledge and Training
* Developed knowledge of clinical, technical and/or scientific roles and responsibilities, including clinical risk assessment.
* An understanding of their role within the team
Experience
* Experience in health and/or social care settings, such as employment, work experience, volunteering, or placement(s)
Communication Skills
* Evidence of effective communication skills including verbal, written (legible handwriting), non-verbal, compassion and respect
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff/multidisciplinary team and to understand how to behave/act in a clinical environment
