About the role
Fasthosts is looking for an experienced, commercially minded legal professional to join us as Manager, Legal Counsel on a contract basis providing maternity cover until August 2027.
Key responsibilities
* Manage, mentor and support the UK Legal team
* Act as the UK Data Protection Officer, overseeing GDPR/UK DPA compliance and advising on privacy risks
* Work closely with Group Legal to align on contracts, regulatory matters and wider Group initiatives
* Advise on commercial agreements (cloud/hosting, software licensing, strategic suppliers)
* Support on UK regulatory areas including consumer law, IP, competition and sanctions
* Lead UK compliance activities (anti‑bribery, modern slavery) and contribute to corporate governance
* Identify legal and regulatory risks and provide clear, practical solutions
Qualifications
* Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent (CILEX considered)
* Strong in‑house experience
* Experience managing or mentoring legal professionals (even if informally – we are happy to consider someone looking to step up)
* Solid commercial contracting experience (Tech/SaaS/Hosting experience useful)
* Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK DPA and confidence to act as DPO
* Excellent stakeholder and cross‑team collaboration skills
