Stamford Health is hiring for an Oncology Infusion RN for the Cancer Center!
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Oncology Infusion Suite is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care according to the Nursing Process, adhering to established standards of practice, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and all applicable guidelines. The RN supports seamless patient care and ensures the provision of safe, therapeutic care aligned with hospital values.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, (4) 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
1. Provide direct patient care and administer parenteral agents for anticancer therapies in the Infusion Suite of BCC.
2. Follow principles and standards for safe administration of anti-cancer therapies as per ASCO/ONS Safety Standards, including oral chemotherapy management.
3. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
4. Assess physical and psychosocial patient needs, make referrals, and document assessments and interventions in the EMR.
5. Evaluate patient outcomes and understanding, and provide education on treatment, symptom management, and psychosocial support.
6. Participate in clinical research and demonstrate evidence-based practice.
7. Ensure safe, accurate administration of chemotherapy, identify side effects, and promote patient confidence and comfort during IV access.
8. Educate patients and families on disease, treatment, self-care, and wellness behaviors.
9. Maintain clear, concise, and timely documentation of patient care activities.
10. Identify and manage therapy-related side effects, promoting maximum quality of life.
Qualifications
* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
* Valid Connecticut RN license.
* Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, with oncology experience required; BSN preferred.
* Advanced knowledge of nursing principles and excellent interpersonal skills.
* BLS certification.
* Oncology Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider course required; ONC certification preferred.
* Proficiency with computers and Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
