Senior Planning Officer – Development Management Scotland £45 per hour Inside IR35 3-Month Initial Contract A Local Authority in Scotland is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Officer to support their Development Management team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced DM Planner looking for a flexible contract with a strong pipeline of work and minimal office presence — with attendance expected just 2–3 weeks in the office across the duration of the contract. You’ll be managing a varied caseload of planning applications and supporting the wider Development Management function, working alongside a collaborative and experienced team. Key Responsibilities: • Managing a caseload of minor and major planning applications • Preparing officer reports and recommendations • Providing professional planning advice to applicants, stakeholders, and elected members • Assisting with appeals and committee reports where required • Supporting the delivery of high-quality Development Management services Requirements: • Previous Local Authority Development Management experience • Strong understanding of the Scottish planning system • Experience handling a varied planning application caseload • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills The council offers highly flexible working arrangements with very limited office attendance required throughout the contract.
