Salary: £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role

The Safeguarding Hub is looking for a alternatively qualified /Youth Worker/ practitioner who is able to work creatively to engage children/young people and their parents/carers who are at risk of Child Exploitation. You need to be passionate, tenacious and have excellent relationship building skills. The role is full time (37 hours) grade 9 and based at Wigston Police Station – subject to police vetting. At times you will work alongside police officers from Leicestershire Police Child Exploitation Team or Missing Persons Team. There will be opportunities for creative group work, deliverance of child exploitation awareness raising work with partner agencies alongside working directly with children.

The team is a mixture of social workers and youth workers who all support each other to focus in delivering a quality service to the children they work with. You will be part of a duty rota which is spread across the whole team.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

1. NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) plus significant relevant experience. – Or be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with children, young people and families in either case or group work situation.
2. Experience of working in a multiagency setting.
3. Experience of engaging with young people who are vulnerable or from a hard-to-reach group.
4. Awareness of the issues faced by young people (social, economic and inter-personal)
5. Awareness and commitment to implement safeguarding procedures in accordance to the Local Safeguarding Children Board
6. Possession of a valid driving licence, access to a vehicle, and relevant insurances. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability.
