About the School

Our client school is a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burnley, catering for children aged 5–11. The school is committed to providing a nurturing environment where all pupils feel valued, safe, and supported to achieve their full potential.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teacher to join the school on a one-year fixed-term basis.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to pupils in KS1, helping them to develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and positive attitudes to learning
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and develop curriculum provision
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, events, and enrichment activities
  • Build strong relationships with parents/carers to support pupils’ learning
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Ability to engage and motivate young learners
  • Commitment to inclusive education and meeting the needs of all pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes and early reading strategies
  • Experience contributing to wider school initiatives or extra-curricular activities
