Overview
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking dietitian with an interest in paediatrics to join our paediatric dietetic team. The post will be either a Band 5 development role or a Band 6 role, depending on experience.
This role is ideal for a newly qualified dietitian or an existing Band 5 or 6 dietitian who wishes to develop clinical skills across a variety of paediatric clinical areas, including nutrition support, allergy, gastroenterology, weight management, neonates and diabetes, both in and out of hospital settings.
Responsibilities
* Support ward dietitians on the paediatric wards and neonatal unit, and deliver face‑to‑face and telephone clinics on a weekly basis.
* Develop a broad range of knowledge and skills within paediatric dietetics under ongoing clinical support and supervision from a clinical mentor.
* Participate in student training and staff development programmes, and contribute to the service audit programme and promotion events.
* Formulate, deliver and monitor nutritional care plans for referred patients with complex clinical conditions and diet therapy across acute settings.
* Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, resources and education packages in paediatrics.
* Provide clinical support and audit contribution within the paediatric dietetic team, including the acute paediatric team leader, neonatal dietitian, community HEF/cystic fibrosis dietitian and paediatric diabetes dietitian.
Qualifications
* Newly qualified dietitian or existing Band 5 or Band 6 dietitian with a passion for paediatrics.
* Excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills with the ability to be flexible and demonstrate a strong commitment to team working.
* Interest in working with children and young people, with adaptable communication skills for differing age groups.
* Proactive, enthusiastic, hardworking and a good fit for a friendly and proactive paediatric dietetic team.
