Overview
Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management (ELM) - role focusing on shaping and delivering ELM schemes and related environmental outcomes in the context of agricultural policy reform.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, and oversee programme milestones for the Farming and Countryside Programme and Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT).
* Identify future risks and resource requirements; work across a variety of teams and organisations with senior leaders to articulate a scheme that supports and delivers outcomes.
* Influence the design and delivery of incentives within the wider context of organisational response to government reviews, aiming to improve services to farmers and support EA20230 strategy.
* Deliver key CSHT products and contribute to continuous improvement of the scheme through its design and delivery.
* Represent EA expertise to Defra, delivery bodies and the agriculture sector to achieve consistency and improved collaboration across organisations.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding environmental sensitivities associated with significant agriculture sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose effective risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; self-starter who actively develops and takes ideas forward.
* Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to get things done through others, embody the organisational culture, ensure information is trusted, cascade key information, build relationships quickly, and manage conflicts.

The team sits within the Nature & Place Directorate, part of the National Agriculture and Land Team. We work in an agile, fast-paced, flexible and collaborative environment to deliver clarity while managing uncertainty. We are a dispersed team and use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel. Additional Information
You’ll have an incident management objective in your development plan. Appropriate training will be given. The EA base location is flexible/hybrid in England; some travel/overnights will be required. Read the Candidate/Additional Information Pack for information.
