An exciting opportunity is available for a CPU ASIC Design Engineer to join a global industry leader at their largest UK office, based in Cambridge. You will join a highly respected engineering team working on next-generation products, including high-performance CPUs and GPUs, ultra-low-power IoT devices, and advanced wearables. As a CPU ASIC Engineer, you will focus on CPU RTL development for high-performance, low-power systems. Working closely with chip architects, you will help define micro-architectures and contribute to early architectural and product-level decisions throughout the development lifecycle. Responsibilities Collaborate with the CPU modelling team to explore strategies for achieving high performance Lead micro-architecture development and specification, from early architectural exploration through detailed design Own RTL development, including design creation, refinement, and assessment to meet power, performance, area, and timing requirements Support performance verification to ensure the RTL implementation meets defined performance targets Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver the design to physical implementation, ensuring compliance with timing, area, power, reliability, and testability goals Qualifications Strong understanding of microprocessor architecture Proficiency with Verilog and/or VHDL Solid grasp of logic design principles, including timing and power considerations Knowledge of low-power micro-architecture techniques Understanding of high-performance CPU micro-architecture strategies and trade-offs Experience with scripting languages such as Perl or Python Compensation & benefits You can expect a competitive base salary, RSUs, and bonus. Visa sponsorship is available for engineers already based in the UK.
