Role of the Department
The Build and Test department supports MAHLE Powertrain by building, instrumenting, and testing prototype engines, batteries, and motors helping lead the research and development into new cutting-edge green technologies, such as Hybridisation and Electrification.
Your Role & Responsibilities
As a prototype build technician, you would be carrying out the following activities:
1. To comply with the Health and Safety processes set out by the company
2. Prepare components for use in prototype assemblies with instrumentation
3. Record critical build measurement data
4. To carry out any fabrication and fitment work required to fit prototype parts
5. Using provided process documentation build the engine assembly, battery module or electric motor
6. Check integrity of the build process using mechanical and electrical diagnostic tools
7. Support build concern resolution and failure investigations as required
8. Assist with design rectification activities
Qualifications
Hazardous Voltage safety training to SAP level would be advantageous
Your Skills and Experience
Previous experience of working in a prototype build environment
Knowledge of hazardous voltage safety processes would be an advantage.
Minimum of three years’ experience of building prototype engines, battery packs, or motor assemblies
Ability to work as part of a busy team
Good organizational skills
Ability to improvise and use initiative when required
