Job Summary
FMT solicitors are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary/Paralegal to work in our Family department to assist head of family department in their Manchester office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing correspondence, preparing legal documents, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily office activities. Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and prepare legal documents such as Form E, Divorce application, correspondence, and reports using Microsoft Word and other Office applications
* Manage and organise legal files, records, and case documentation with meticulous attention to detail
* Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates; coordinate with clients and external agencies as required
* Handle incoming calls, emails, and enquiries professionally, ensuring timely responses
* Maintain accurate records of case progress and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
* Utilise organisational skills to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines
* Support Solicitors with administrative duties to facilitate efficient case management
Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and external organisations
* experience in relation to divorce and finances, completing Form Es. Working with HMCTS portal, collating bundles for Court, private children matters (care proceedings an advantage).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook; strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Good understanding of IT systems relevant to legal practice management
* Strong time management abilities to prioritise workload efficiently under tight deadlines
* Fluency in English with clear articulation and professional presentation of information
* Demonstrated organisational skills to maintain accurate records and manage schedules effectively
