As the Senior AV and Broadcast Engineer, you will work with colleagues to support, maintain, test, and operate a range of Audio Visual systems used across the Senedd Estate.
You will be a highly skilled and experienced individual, managing the delivery of first‑class AV services for high profile Senedd hybrid events. You will need to be proficient in live audio, vision, lighting, conference systems and communication VC platforms such as Zoom and Teams. You will work closely with external organisations, contractors, commission staff, Members of the Senedd, Senior Officials and VIPs to discuss requirements, provide expert advice on the best solutions, configure kit, and operate the AV equipment live.
You will be required to work to a rota to cover these daytime, evening and occasionally weekend events, alongside other AV and Broadcasting engineers.
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for running and supporting business‑critical systems used for ‘Hybrid’ Senedd meetings (Plenary and Committees). Our current systems include a bespoke Zoom hybrid setup, Crestron control system, Microsoft Teams Rooms and Shure audio systems.
Reporting to the AV Services Manager, you will provide expert technical advice and guidance, working closely and developing trusted working relationships with Commission staff, Members of the Senedd, Senior staff, VIPs, and external organisations. As a key member of a business‑critical team, you will be required to be flexible, adapting to changing circumstances and working quickly and effectively to tight deadlines.
Core Responsibilities:
* Provide excellent customer service to all users which include Commission staff, Members of the Senedd, senior officials, VIPs, and external organisations, to provide a broad range of AV and Broadcasting services.
* Provide specialist onsite and online Zoom support for Plenary and Committees in hybrid, virtual and in‑person format.
* Provide expert audio‑visual support for live and pre‑recorded hybrid events, including operating sound desks, presentations, lighting, camera equipment and Zoom webinars;
* Provide support for users of our Microsoft Teams onsite meeting rooms;
* Monitor and support our onsite IPTV and digital signage system;
* Work alongside contractors and colleagues to diagnose incidents with AV equipment/systems, and investigate their causes to agreed service level agreements;
* Manage weekly checks on critical systems, working alongside the Host Broadcaster Engineering team to proactively maintain AV systems across the estate;
* Work alongside other teams within the ICT service on updating, expanding, and developing an accurate, up‑to‑date knowledgebase of known AV issues and fixes.

Job Specific Criteria:
* Experience of operating and maintaining bespoke A/V equipment, translation and integrated conference systems, and PA systems including sound desks;
* Experience of supporting meetings and webinars using web conferencing systems (preferably Zoom and Microsoft Teams);
* Experience of setting up and working on live, high‑profile events, delivering excellent services to senior officials or VIPs;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to deliver a high quality service to all users.
