Smith School, School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QY Reporting to Prof Thom Wetzer, Director of the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme and Associate Professor of Law and Finance, the postholder will be a legal scholar with a focus on human rights and climate change. This research will focus on procedural and substantive issues in climate lawsuits before regional human rights courts including on standing before the European Court of Human Rights, Paris-aligned greenhouse gas mitigation scenarios that are aligned with human rights, and how to assess individual emitters' contributions to climate change impacts under human rights law. The successful candidate will be an interdisciplinary scholar who will join a vibrant and growing research environment at the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme that builds on the University of Oxford's expertise in climate science and law. The post is ideal for a candidate who can demonstrate strong legal skills in the area of human rights law, and aptitude for interdisciplinary scholarship at the interface of climate science and law. The postholder will have opportunities to engage with a range of stakeholders including policymakers and legal practitioners. The position is 4 days per week for a period of 8 months.
