Senior Physiotherapist (Palliative Care)
We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with skills in rehabilitation, respiratory care and musculoskeletal pathology to join the LTHT Palliative Care team. This 24‑month post is funded by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal (JTA) and offers the chance to work within an established multidisciplinary team, scoping and developing the physiotherapy role within palliative care.
Main duties of the job
* Explore and expand the use of Kinesio Taping/Elastic Taping in the management of palliative patients.
* Provide training for healthcare staff on taping techniques.
* Collect and analyse data to evaluate the scope and impact of physiotherapy input for palliative in‑patients; use findings to support a business case and possible extension of funding beyond the fixed term.

What you will bring to the role
* Carry out advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of palliative patients.
* Develop treatment plans that can be continued if the patient is discharged, liaising with external agencies/colleagues as required.
* Develop the physiotherapy role and service offer within Palliative Care, exploring the patient groups for which physiotherapy input would be beneficial and ensuring efficient and effective service provision.
* Promote quality evidence‑based physiotherapy practice in the Palliative Care setting, with a particular focus on the use of elastic taping/K‑taping for palliative patients.
* Act as an expert in the field of elastic taping/K‑taping within the Palliative Care service, exploring the scope of its use, and supporting the training of the wider MDT, working alongside external stakeholders.
* Collect and analyse appropriate data, to demonstrate the impact of physiotherapy provision for Palliative Care patients and their families.

Qualifications
* Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
* HCPC registration
Experience
* Extensive clinical experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and rehabilitation
* Experience working at a Band 6 level
* Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches in the management of this area of clinical practice, including the use of elastic taping/K‑taping.
* Working knowledge of critical appraisal, audit and outcome measures
