Offer description

Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed pharmacists to join our friendly and supportive team based at the Royal Derby Hospital (RDH, Derbyshire), providing a high quality service to patients, clinical staff, and members of the public.

Whether you are a newly qualified pharmacist having registered in summer 2025, a trainee pharmacist expecting to register in January 2026, or a qualified pharmacist looking for a fresh challenge, we can help you achieve your potential. Our early careers to specialist pharmacist pathway is a person-centred development programme, individualised to you, with a team of Advanced Clinical Pharmacists on hand to support you in achieving your goals (pathway overview available on request).

Role

As a rotational pharmacist you will move through all the specialties offered at acute hospital sites, additionally you will provide some input into the community hospitals that are part of our UHDB family. Experiencing practice on both Derbyshire and Staffordshire sites is a key part of our vision for the rotational clinical pharmacist team.

In the role of rotational clinical pharmacist you will be a valued member of the ward-based multidisciplinary team providing clinical review of inpatient medicines use; intervening, advising and facilitating to ensure safe and effective prescribing and supply of medications. Being part of the multidisciplinary team involves working closely with medical, nursing, allied health, and pharmacy staff.

Development of staff is important to us at UHDB, and we actively promote and provide mentorship for further funded development through Post-Graduate Diplomas, Independent Prescribing, or equivalent qualifications as appropriate to your stage of development. If you are currently undertaking a diploma, or wish to undertake further clinical development, we are happy to support where it is relevant to your role. In return, we expect the successful candidate to be involved in teaching and supporting trainee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in their development.
