My client is a fast-growing, award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy working across a diverse range of sectors. You will join a collaborative team delivering high-quality advice to developers, local authorities and private sector clients, with a strong focus on adding value and maintaining long-term partnerships.
In this Principal Transport Planner role, you will be:
·Writing, checking and approving Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes
·Preparing appeal documentation including Statements of Case and Statements of Common Ground
·Successfully project managing schemes, including budget control, programme management and fee requests where required
·Leading client and Local Highway Authority liaison, attending meetings independently
·Completing and reviewing planning drawings such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking and access designs
·Preparing fee proposals and tender submissions across a range of project scales
·Applying junction modelling knowledge and trip generation methodologies, including 'Decide and Provide' principles
·Identifying and designing mitigation schemes to address capacity, safety or active travel constraints
·Supporting and mentoring junior team members
·Contributing to business development, networking and marketing initiatives
To be considered for this Principal Transport Planner position, you will ideally have:
·A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
·Membership of a relevant professional organisation
·At least 5 years' transport planning experience
·Strong knowledge of national, regional and local policy and design guidance
·Experience managing your own workload and delegating tasks where appropriate
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Confidence providing high-level advice and stepping into projects to provide guidance when required
Your salary will be £55,000 - £68,000 per year dependent on experience, reflecting your capability as a Principal Transport Planner.
