An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated person to join our busy Information Governance team in the role of Information Governance Assistant at University Hospitals Dorset. The successful applicant will work within the team to support the Trust’s aims and objectives in relation to compliance with key Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation. This will include co-ordinating the Trusts responses to requests under the Freedom of Information Act, and assisting with requests from patients, staff and members of the public relating to their personal data. This is a varied role which will require the successful candidate to have excellent IT skills, display a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills when liaising with staff across the Trust. Base Location: Poole Hospital - you will be require to work across site. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Educated to A-level or NVQ level 3 or higher OCR/RSA III typing/word processing or equivalent Desirable criteria Information Governance qualification or equivalent experience Experience Essential criteria Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Numerate and literate Able to introduce change to enhance efficiency in the work environment Experience of managing own workload Desirable criteria Previous experience of working in the NHS or public sector Information Governance experience Previous practical experience of Data Protection or Freedom of Information legislation Technical Skills Essential criteria Excellent knowledge of business systems and office organisation Must be able to deal with a wide range of staff, patients and public in a polite and professional way Ability to clearly articulate and explain key concepts related to the role Able to work to tight deadlines Proven ability to multi-task and to be able to manage and prioritise daily tasks Able to work on own initiative Organised and flexible approach to effectively accommodate ad hoc demands to existing workload Knowledge Essential criteria Excellent working knowledge of E-mail (Microsoft Outlook) including creating, formatting and managing of folders and saving emails Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Desirable criteria Knowledge of Information Governance Knowledge of relevant legislation Other requirements specific to role Essential criteria Understand the management of highly confidential information Use of display screen equipment continually most days Frequent periods of concentration Personal Attributes Essential criteria High level of attention to detail Ability to prioritise own workloady to prioritise Methodical worker Calm under pressure Adaptable and flexible Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
