Overview
The NCIC IMSK interface service provides a high‑quality, Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioner‑led MSK/Orthopaedic and Spinal triage and treat service within North East and North Cumbria ICB. The post holder acts independently to diagnose, assess and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including the use of imaging, investigation interpretation, multidisciplinary treatment pathways and appropriate referral. The role also involves developing fast‑track referral to Consultant led services, supporting patients and colleagues, audit, CPD facilitation and patient information development.
Responsibilities
* Lead MSK/Orthopaedic and Spinal triage, assessment and treatment of complex and chronic MSK conditions.
* Independently diagnose, plan and manage treatment pathways, including imaging and investigation interpretation.
* Refer appropriately to specialist pathways and Consultant led services, working with Primary and Secondary care teams.
* Provide patient, carer and multidisciplinary team support, information and advice on holistic care.
* Audit, develop standardised patient information, clinical supervision and CPD support for Clinical Specialist staff.
Qualifications
* Advanced Practitioner certification with orthopaedic/spinal surgical training.
* Expert knowledge of musculoskeletal imaging, investigation interpretation and multidisciplinary treatment pathways.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, including Orthopaedic Surgeons, Spinal Surgeons, Rheumatologists and GPs.
* Strong audit, quality improvement and CPD facilitation skills.
