Overview
SEN Teacher position in Merton (Southwest London). The school is looking for experienced and approachable SEN staff for a position starting immediately. Role involves SLD/ASD teaching with a full-time commitment for children aged 4–11 years old.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and report on the progress of pupils.
* Provide lesson plans and resources to match the school’s teaching standards.
* Use various methods to convey lessons in an interactive and dynamic way.
* Provide 1:1 and group teaching and support to 7 pupils, assisted by Teaching Assistants in the classroom as needed.
* Support pupils diagnosed with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) or PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) at Pre School or very low National Curriculum levels.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and support staff to meet individual student needs.
* Implement a total communication approach and utilise strategies such as Picture Exchange Communication System and eye gaze where appropriate.
* Support students with medical needs through health care plans and trained staff.
* Promote functional mobility and development with MOVE program support and collaboration with parents and therapy staff.
What you'll need to succeed
* You must be a qualified teacher with QTS and/or PGCE.
* You must have UK teaching experience.
* You must be passionate about working with SEND.
