Role purpose:
Reporting to the Production team leader, the primary responsibility of the role is to fabricate products in accordance with detailed drawings using various techniques and to weld the joints using TIG welding process to food quality standards.
Dimensions:
1. Fabricate products using various techniques.
2. Operate equipment to TIG weld stainless steel parts together to produce assemblies.
Key Accountabilities:
3. Fabricate simple and complex shaped products using various techniques.
4. Operate welding equipment, to weld stainless steel component parts together (primary type of welding is TIG, but knowledge of MIG is desirable), to produce assemblies to form products.
5. Inspect welds for quality and ensure all assemblies are meet the necessary requirements/standard.
6. Work to schedule, accurately, in a timely manner, both on own initiative and simultaneously as part of a larger team.
7. Ensure the equipment is well maintained and safe, set up correctly, used in a safe manner and change gas cylinders as and when required.
8. Understand assembly specific technical demands of the welding process.
9. Operate other tools such as buffing/polishing machines and angle grinders.
10. Communicate clearly with other workstations.
11. Use electronic scanning equipment and reporting tools where applicable.
12. Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
13. Achieve targets and job standards as set out by team leader/supervisor.
14. Flexible approach to tasks and working hours to ensure targets are achieved.
15. Maintain a functional work area that is consistent with five ‘S’ and lean manufacturing.
16. Basic assembly skills to support multi-skilled workforce during sickness and holiday periods.
17. Maintain high levels of Health & Safety standards at all times.
18. Ahere to all PPE/workwear requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
19. Experience of working in a fast paced and often demanding environment.
20. Good level of academic achievement (ideally served a fabricating/welding apprenticeship).
21. Experience of working within the fabrication industry.
22. Experience of fabricating simple and complex shapes
23. Previous experience of TIG welding.
24. Ability to read technical drawings.
25. Previous experience of welding filters or vessels would be advantageous.
26. Self-motivated with the ability to work on their own initiative.
