Packaging Operative (Nights) at PrepWorld
Role involves working in the packaging warehouse on the night shift. Pay starts at £13.66 per hour, rising to £14.25 and £14.62 after full training. This description reflects the duties, qualifications, and benefits associated with the role.
Responsibilities
* Move pallets/stock around the warehouse in a safe and controlled manner.
* Unload delivery vehicles on site following intake processes.
* Operate all MHE equipment safely and complete startup documents correctly.
* Pick and supply packaging according to daily plans and prepare for production in the airlock room, following traceability and barrier control procedures.
* Top up the print room with labels daily according to the Kan Ban system.
* Work in the airlock room and issue packaging to production as requested, following issuing/receiving procedures.
* Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and organised at all times.
* Provide accurate packaging stock counts for all packaging SKUs.
* Notify the area Supervisor/Team Leader of any delivery discrepancies.
* Take ownership of delivery notes and pass them to the area Supervisor/Team Leader.
* Organise stock in stores clearly, ensuring internal codes are applied correctly with accurate information.
* Complete intake procedures including stock putaway and update stock inventory lists accurately.
* Read packaging plans/Bill of Materials to identify correct stocks for production.
* Follow instructions from Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Line Managers; understand stock status (current, new, redundant) and segregation importance.
* Develop knowledge of all packaging SKUs and maintain a strong focus on health & safety.
* Learn new IT/work systems and track deliveries against schedules, noting any late deliveries.
* Understand redundant packaging stocks.
* Demonstrate a solution-based mindset and ability to work under pressure; collaborate with the team to achieve objectives.
Qualifications and attributes
* Prior knowledge of warehouse/stock work is advantageous.
* Excellent timekeeping, reliability, and attendance.
* Valid/date FLT certification is advantageous but training can be provided.
* Good English communication (speaking, writing, listening) and numeracy skills.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work under pressure.
* First aid & Fire marshal trained is advantageous but training can be provided.
* Positive, “can do” attitude with a solution-based mindset and good teamwork skills.
* Emotional intelligence, resilience, flexibility, and willingness to adapt ways of working to support the team.
* Flexibility to work overtime preferred.

Hours and pay
Hours: 17:00 to 05:00 (NIGHTS)
Days of work: Peak 24 weeks (May - October); Off Peak 28 weeks (October - May). The schedule includes rotating weeks as described in the original text.
Pay: £13.66 per hour starting wage, rising to £14.25 and then £14.62 after full training and development. Pay frequency: Weekly.
