Our client owns and operates the West London Fuel Storage Terminal, where petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel is stored. They are seeking an Operations Technician to join their team on a long-term contract basis where full training will be provided.
About the role:
As an Operations Technician, you will carry out a wide variety of operational tasks to support the safe and efficient running of the terminal. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Tank water draw-offs and product sampling
Tank dipping and tank roof drain management
Bund draining and jet-washing of loading bays and bay filters
Changing bay filters and skimming of site interceptors
Visual inspections of tanks and bunds, including fire extinguisher checks
Winterisation tasks such as gritting paths and testing safety showers
Monthly building water temperature checks and fire pump tests
Shipping duties, including off-loading fuel
Basic mechanical maintenance, e.g. assisting fitters with maintenance or process drain downs
Completing routine admin tasks such as updating seal logs, water draw-off logs, and contamination check sheets
What we're looking for:
We want individuals with initiative, drive, energy, and determination, who enjoy working outdoors as part of a team. This is a hands-on, physically active role that involves manual tasks and occasional working at height. Candidates with HM Forces experience are invited to apply. Candidates with experience within the Construction sector are also invited to apply e.g. plumbing, brickwork, carpentry, scaffolding, ground works etc. Full training will be provided.
To succeed, you should be able to demonstrate:
Knowledge and experience of working safely, including adherence to safe systems of work
Strong oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Competence in using standard desktop systems (e.g. Word, Outlook)
Additional requirements:
Must live within a 45-minute commute of the terminal (TW19 7LZ)
Must hold a valid driving licence (to drive vehicles on site)
Ability to work a continental shift pattern (12 hour shifts):
2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off
2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off
2 days on, 2 nights on, 10 days off
