Job Summary
We are looking for a Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Care First. Working collaboratively with education and care staff, you will deliver bespoke occupational therapy assessment and intervention to learners who may have experienced developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs. You will work within the standards of the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working, using your professional judgement to support each learner’s independence and well‑being. The role includes holding a caseload, providing staff training, and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
Responsibilities
* Deliver occupational therapy assessment and intervention to learners with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
* Apply OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards in an education and social care setting.
* Hold and manage an occupational therapy caseload with oversight from a clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Support pupils at the forefront of their development, ensuring safeguarding and record‑keeping standards.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised occupational therapy degree.
* Registered member of RCOT.
* HCPC registered.
* Relevant previous experience as a student OT or in a previously held OT role.
* Experience working with people experiencing learning difficulty and/or neurodiversity.
* Strong communication, analytical, judgement and relational skills.
* Good time‑management and organisational skills.
* Understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication.
* Basic understanding of physical needs, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and treatment.
* Basic IT skills.
* Understanding of information governance, confidentiality and record‑keeping standards.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience of communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Knowledge of various assessment tools, intervention programmes and formulation of treatment plans.
