Company Overview
Servis Facilities Limited is a national knowledge leader in facilities management and strategic outsourcing. We provide operational management services across various sectors, offering tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients.
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Fire Marshal/Wardens and Waking Watch Operatives to join our team in the UK. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and compliance of our facilities, contributing to Servis Facilities Limited mission of delivering effective facilities management solutions.
Responsibilities
* Patrol Frequency and Coverage:
Each floor and all corridors, communal lobbies, stairwells, and key plant/service areas must be physically checked a minimum of once every 15 minutes. Night shift checks should be no more than 7.5 minutes by splitting 3 floors per officer. All patrols must be logged in the patrol record sheet. Time, name, and any observations must be recorded clearly. During daytime patrols and whilst covering breaks, to maximise the effectiveness and consistency of fire detection, waking watch patrols are to be conducted on a rotational basis through all floors. Officers must follow a systematic circuit covering each floor in sequence rather than repeatedly moving up and down the stairwell or selecting floors at random.
* Break Arrangements and Coverage:
During the night shift, both officers must not be on break at the same time. Breaks must be staggered with one officer on active patrol while the other is on break. Officers should have 4x 15 minute breaks each per 12 hours. Daytime officer will handover to office staff when they go on break. While on break, the remaining officer must ensure the whole building is still patrolled within 15 minutes but targeting the 7.5 minutes where possible. Officers must hand over the patrol and any incidents/concerns before and after each break.
* Remain alert for signs of fire (smoke, alarms sounding, burning smells, visible fires) at ALL TIMES during patrols. Patrols must enter each side corridor to allow for the sensing of any smoke to be possible. Immediately raise the fire alarm and summon the emergency services (999) if fire is detected or suspected. Alert all residents (using air horns and by knocking) and direct occupants to evacuate as per the building's evacuation procedure. Ensure escape routes, stairways, and exits are clear of obstructions and hazards during every patrol. Check for fire safety issues (e.g., fire doors wedged open, items left in corridors). Immediately report all incidents or hazards to the responsible person/building manager. Complete an incident log entry for any issues found. Provide visible reassurance to residents and respond to concerns about fire safety or suspected hazard
