Futures Ecology Ltd are seeking individualsto fill a number of posts at Ecologist/Senior Ecologist andAssistant Ecologist levels to meet the demands of our increasingworkload.
We are a small friendly consultancywhich started in 2019 and now have offices east of Leeds (WestYorkshire) and near Bolsover (Derbyshire). Our work ispredominantly in the north of England the Midlands and Lincolnshirebut we also have projects further afield.

Ecologist/SeniorEcologist
We are seekingan ecologist with a minimum of four years consultancy experience tobe based out of either our Leeds or Bolsover office on a permanentfull time contract basis. This role offers the successful applicantthe chance to develop their project management skills on a range ofprojects including renewable energy production new housing schemescommercial developments and smaller scale planningapplications.
WorkPackage:
* Permanentcontract 35 hours / week

Essential:
* Experience in project management;
* Have at least 4 years relevant experience;
* Excellent communication for liaising withclients stakeholders and the general public;
* Trustworthy and reliable with excellent timekeeping;
* Extended Phase 1 habitat / UKHabsurvey skills;
* Experience with protectedspecies surveys and mitigation;
* Hold protectedspecies licences for: great crested newt (minimum level 1 Classlicence (CL08)) or bats (minimum level 2 Class licence (CL18));
* Good report writing skills to include:Preliminary Ecological Appraisals Ecological Impact Assessments andother protected species survey reports / risk assessments andmitigation strategies;
* Experience of acting asan Ecological Clerk of Works;
* Able to workflexibly and away from home (including night work i.e. unsociablehours) in an outdoor (and sometimes remote) environment;
* Be prepared to work late evenings and earlymornings;
* A degree or similar qualification ortraining in an environmental (or relevant) subject;
* A full clean driving licence and a vehicleinsured for business use;
* Have or be eligiblefor associate or full membership to CIEEM;
* Proactive;
* Workingeffectively in a team and independently;
* Experienced in software package: MS OfficeQGIS.
Desirable
* Rabiesvaccinated;
* CSCScard;
* CS38 certified for Tree climbing &Aerial Rescue;
* Botanical identification skills(e.g. FISC 3 or equivalent);
* Bat MitigationClass Licence (CL21): to allow low impact works on bat roosts;
* Badger Class Licence (LR24): to interfere witha sett for developmentpurposes.
AssistantEcologist
We are seekingassistants (new to ecology or experienced) to work from our Leedsand Bolsover offices. We would be particulalry interested if youhave a background in botanical ID and are looking to focus on thisin the early stages of yourcareer.

Essential:
* Able to work flexibly and away fromhome (including night work) in an outdoor environment;

* A degree or similarqualification or training in an environmental (or relevant) subjector working towards this qualification;
* A fullclean driving licence and a vehicle insured for business use;
* Have or be eligible for graduate student orassociate membership to CIEEM;
* Workingeffectively in a team andindependently;
* Committed reliable enthusiasticand with a good attention to detail and concentration skills.
Desirable
* Priorexperience of working under or holding a survey licence for greatcrested newts bats dormice or whiteclawed crayfish;
* CSCS card;
* Botanicalidentification skills.
