The Role
The Mechanical Supervisor is part of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation within BDUK, working as part of a team in support of key programmes. The role involves ensuring process adherence, accurate work recording and contractual/regulatory compliance, providing direct control, oversight and mentoring of technicians, and supervising the execution of maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
* Deliver aircraft maintenance under Boeing’s MAA MRP Part 145 approval or under MOD customer approval.
* Handle assembly, disassembly, modification and upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
* Perform routine troubleshooting of complex aircraft systems, including pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical/electronic, and repair faulty components in line with authorised maintenance documents.
* Be flexible with work locations and times to ensure aircraft delivery on schedule.
* Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to peers and others as appropriate.
* Act with appropriate supervision or exercise supervision for the role.
* Mitigate immediate risks, including stop work orders, and raise emerging risks, issues and shortfalls in a timely manner.
* Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and projects as required.
* Exercise 100% oversight of work carried out by Boeing Apprentices or Trainees and provide apprenticeship/trainee mentoring where directed.
* Contribute positively to Boeing’s open and honest reporting culture.
There is an expectation that successful candidates will be eligible to apply for 2nd signature on type within their first three months in the role.
Basic Qualifications
* Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Experience
* Recognised relevant trade apprenticeship or trade experience equivalent.
* Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and processes applicable to the aviation environment (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).
* Experience in either commercial or defence maintenance.
* Proficient computer skills, including the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to work effectively as part of an inclusive working culture.
Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security Clearance of SC level for which the UK Government requires UK residency. The successful candidate must hold or have the ability to obtain the requisite clearance.
