The Role
The Senior Quality Engineer is based within our Mission Systems Effectors business unit.

Day-to-day, you’ll be ensuring all project decisions are in line with quality standards and analysing risk that may compromise quality. Liaising with internal stakeholders (Project Managers), external suppliers (involving visits to suppliers to carry out quality checks) and external customers (supporting proposals of bids).
1. Represent the customer’s interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have.
2. Provide quality input and advice through the project lifecycle.
3. Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate issues to programme leadership.
4. Manage non-conformance process, driving root cause analysis and prevention where appropriate.
5. Oversee progress and sign-off the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met.
6. Collect, analyse and report on quality performance data.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Quality Engineer
7. A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
8. Previous customer-facing role or experience is beneficial.
9. Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
10. Experience of auditing quality ISO management systems.
11. An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 why’s, 8D, etc.).
Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer
12. ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline are desirable.
13. Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g. CQI is desirable.
14. ISO auditor preferable but training can be provided.
