Immediate Start - Full-Time English Teacher Required | St Albans, Hertfordshire | £179 - £269 per day (paid weekly)
Tradewind Recruitment is urgently seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a supportive mixed secondary school in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This is a full-time role with an immediate or September start, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a specialist, small-group learning environment.
The school supports students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, with classes typically ranging from 2-8 students. This allows for focused, high-quality teaching and strong relationship building with pupils. The vacancy has arisen following the departure of a permanent member of staff, and the school is open to offering a temporary, fixed-term, or permanent contract, depending on your preference and availability.
Essential Requirements:
* UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
* Minimum of one year's teaching experience in UK schools, ideally with SEMH or similar experience
* Confidence delivering English across Key Stages 3 and 4
* Strong behaviour and classroom management skills, with the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively
* Full-time availability, Monday to Friday
* Current enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply - support provided)
* Genuine passion for English, literacy, and student development
* Ability to engage, inspire, and build positive relationships with students and colleagues
* Legal right to work in the UK
Teachers with other subject specialisms who have experience teaching English are also encouraged to apply. Primary-trained teachers may also be particularly well suited to this environment due to the small class sizes, differentiated learning needs, and strong focus on relationship building and literacy development.
What We Offer:
* Competitive pay: £179 - £269 per day (MPS to UPS London Fringe, equivalent to £34,397 - £52,488)
* Ongoing training and professional development
* Supportive leadership and a dedicated recruitment consultant throughout the process
* Excellent opportunities for progression within the school and wider network
* The opportunity to make a real difference in a low pupil-to-teacher ratio setting, supporting students with SEMH needs
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator with experience in SEMH or similar specialist settings to take on a rewarding role where your expertise will have an immediate and lasting impact.
