Job Summary
To provide face to face support to our patients, and those important to them. This role would suit an outgoing, friendly, and organised person who likes to see people face to face and is interested in helping them when required.
What will I be doing?
1. Offering companionship or practical help such as light shopping or running errands.
2. Providing the opportunity for families and carers to spend some time out of the house to catch up with friends or to go shopping, knowing one of our volunteers is at their home taking care of their loved one.
3. Assisting carers and patients with practical tasks such as shopping, laundry, washing up, ironing, dog walking, gardening etc. (not personal care).
4. Preparing drinks and snacks.
5. Providing company to patients who are isolated.
6. Attend benefit support / home support meetings when able to.
7. Travelling from your own home to the patient’s home.
8. Reporting back to the Home Support volunteer co-ordinator outcomes of visits.
When?
Hours to suit you, usually one visit per week for two hours or add hock for emergency support.
