Are you an experienced Payroll Leader with expertise in managing complex, multi-country payroll operations? Our client, a global organisation with an expanding North European presence, is seeking a Regional Payroll Manager to oversee payroll across six entities in four countries – with further growth expected in 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, international environment. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, compliant payroll delivery while driving improvements and supporting business growth across the region.
As Payroll Project Manager, you will:
Lead and oversee outsourced payroll processing for the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway (with further expansion planned).
Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of monthly payrolls (UK: HC 450, 140, 15 | Denmark: 26 | Sweden: 10 | Ireland: 7).
Maintain compliance with local laws, contractual agreements, and collective agreements.
Act as the key liaison between regional HR, local teams, and external payroll providers.
Oversee one Payroll Specialist based in Northampton, providing leadership, training, and development.
Reconcile payroll postings and GL entries, ensuring accurate reporting and month-end processes.
Support additional responsibilities including gender pay gap reporting, average holiday pay, and PSA calculations/submissions.
Drive continuous improvements, automation, and best practice initiatives across payroll operations.
Stay abreast of payroll legislation changes across multiple jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will bring:
5–7 years' experience managing European payrolls (multi-country exposure essential)
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations across multiple European countries
Demonstrable experience with HCM systems and advanced Excel skills
A detail-oriented, problem-solving approach with strong analytical ability
Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience
Leadership qualities with a track record of supporting and developing payroll professionals
A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
