Our transport operations are large and complex; we require a detail-orientated Safety Specialist to support and deliver onsite safety programmes and campaigns and ensure site compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.

In this role, you will support the Transport teams across NEXT Distribution’s network in achieving a consistent approach to all Health & Safety matters. By creating and upholding high standards relating to operational effectiveness and H&S compliance, you will ensure consistent communication and delivery of H&S messages.
As Safety Specialist for Transport, you will be conducting regular inspections and audits of work areas, processes and equipment, identifying hazards and areas for improvement You will assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents and near-misses, reviewing and scoring accident reports and using data to produce reports and provide feedback to the management teams.
A key part of the role will be the rollout and delivery of safety campaigns, specific to Transport and you will be required to promote safety awareness and best practices through workshops, presentation and communications, monitoring effectiveness and suggesting improvements and alternatives
About You
We’re looking for a pro-active NERBOSH qualified professional from a Health & Safety or Facilities background. You’ll be a confident communicator and have a proven ability to convey key information to a wide audience including senior managers.
You’ll be PC literate, able to produce clear data, reports, presentations and other written communications. Experience in a similar role and managing small teams would be an advantage as would knowledge of Smith System/Defensive driving.
The role involves regular travel to all transport operations throughout the UK; our distribution network is a 24/7 operation so flexibility is key.
