About Strike Academy
Strike Academy delivers high-energy, inclusive football camps where children build skills, confidence and friendships in a safe, positive environment. We're looking for a Lead Coach who can run the day, set the tone, and ensure every child has an outstanding experience.
Role overview
As Lead Football Coach, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the camp delivery including registration, session planning, staff leadership, and safeguarding standards. You'll lead by example: engaging coaching, clear communication, and a strong focus on child wellbeing and enjoyment.
Key responsibilities
Camp leadership & delivery
* Lead safe, fun, well-structured football sessions for ages 5–14 (mixed abilities).
* Plan and deliver sessions across: ball mastery, 1v1s, passing/receiving, finishing, small-sided games, challenges and tournaments.
* Set up and pack down equipment; maintain a tidy, safe coaching environment.
* Ensure high engagement and inclusion for every child (including those new to football).
Registration & parent communication
* Oversee daily registration/sign-in/out processes and ensure accurate attendance.
* Be a visible point of contact for parents/carers at drop-off and pick-up.
* Handle day-to-day queries professionally and escalate concerns appropriately.
Team leadership
* Brief, support and direct assistant/junior coaches and volunteers.
* Allocate groups, roles and activity stations; manage transitions and behaviour positively.
* Maintain strong staff ratios and ensure supervision standards throughout the day.
Safeguarding, welfare & compliance
* Maintain a strong safeguarding culture at all times (including following reporting procedures).
* Manage minor incidents/first aid (within training), and complete incident forms as required.
* Ensure all activities are risk-assessed and adapted for weather/space/ability.
Essential requirements
* Experience coaching children in a football camp or similar setting.
* Confident leading groups and managing behaviour positively.
* Strong communication with children, parents and staff.
* Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and ability to provide references.
* Right to work in the UK.
Desirable (but not essential)
* FA/UEFA coaching qualification (e.g., FA Level 2 / UEFA C).
* FA Safeguarding Children certificate and Emergency First Aid.
* Experience leading holiday camps / multi-station delivery.
