Experienced Recruitment Consultant focused on technology and change within the buy-side.
My client is a leading investment management firm looking to hire a Cloud Architect to join their Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced architect to shape and guide the firm’s cloud strategy, ensuring secure, cost-effective, and scalable use of Microsoft Azure and related technologies.
The Cloud Architect will work closely with technology, security, and development teams to design cloud-native solutions, ensure robust compliance and governance, and drive adoption of modern infrastructure practices. This is a hands-on role requiring deep Azure expertise and a strong understanding of hybrid environments and cost control.
What is expected by the Cloud Architect:
* Lead the design and implementation of secure cloud solutions in Azure, in line with business needs and cyber security requirements
* Develop and maintain the business’ Cloud Strategy, supporting adoption across infrastructure and development teams.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams (e.g. IT Security, Data Science, Engineering) to deploy and support cloud resources and tooling.
* Manage cloud costs, monitor usage, and optimise spend.
* Ensure new systems and infrastructure are properly handed over to support and operations teams.
* Produce documentation and technical designs in line with internal standards.
* Work with third-party providers to source services, quotes and delivery estimates.
* Support cultural change and promote a cloud-first mindset across the technology department.
Essential skills required by the Cloud Architect:
* Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing secure solutions in Azure and Microsoft 365.
* Background in infrastructure or operations within a mature IT environment.
* Experience managing hybrid infrastructure and evaluating the cost/benefit of cloud vs. on-premise solutions.
* Knowledge of Azure networking, ExpressRoute, and data centre connectivity.
* Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Graph API, and BICEP.
* Understanding of security and compliance best practices in Azure and how to monitor against baselines.
* Proven track record of supporting projects across both technology and business domains.
* Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
This is a great opportunity to join a business that is investing heavily in technology and cloud adoption, where you can take ownership of strategy, delivery and best practice.
