Planning Solicitor
West Yorkshire Local Authority
Rate: £55-£65 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Contract: 3-6 months - with view to extend
Fully Remote
A local authority in the West Yorkshire region is seeking a skilled and motivated Planning and Development Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting one of the UK's most ambitious and forward-thinking local authorities as it delivers on strategic priorities for infrastructure, regeneration, and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied caseload in development, planning, highways, and local government law.
* Draft complex legal documents, including S106 agreements, highways agreements, and development-related contracts.
* Undertake advocacy at inquiries, tribunals, and courts, including complex contested proceedings.
* Advise on legal aspects of strategic projects, development schemes, and infrastructure delivery.
Key Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX with strong experience in one or more of the following areas: planning law, development, highways law, or public law.
* Be able to confidently manage a heavy caseload, adapt to shifting priorities, and provide practical, solutions-focused legal advice.
* Experienced in planning or development law within a local authority or similar setting.
* Strong drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
