Main function of the job:
(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required).
To maintain care skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain practices as up-to-date.
To provide leadership to the care functions of The Home.
To provide care in accordance with current best practices, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time.
To supervise the care services within The Home in accordance with agreed standards.
Supervisory responsibilities:
To support and assist the Deputy Manager in the management of each of the care functions within The Home
Management of care Services: (not in any priority order)
1. The Team Leader will take the lead responsible for the day-to-day management of care services, in accordance with policies, procedures and management techniques agreed with the Registered Manager.
2. The Team Leader is intended to work as a member of the day to day hands-on care team, and the overwhelming proportion of working time should be spent in contact with Service Users as opposed to being office based.
3. Take the lead responsibility for Service User documentation.
4. Assist in the development of the philosophy, goals and objectives for the care practice.
5. Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of care implementation and delivery
6. Implement action to meet and maintain care standards.
7. Liaise with residents' GPs and other healthcare professionals involved such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, community nurses, etc.
8. Ensure that Service User rights are protected
9. Administer and order medicines as required for residents and by the home's policies and procedures.
10. Evaluate Care Plans.
11. Evaluate standards of care competence.
12. Develop effective working relationships with the Manager of The Home.
13. Positively and fully support implement the decisions of the Registered Manager. Reconcile differences of approach and opinion with the Registered Manager in private.
Professional Long Term care Leadership:
1. Deputise for the Deputy Manager during their absence, following agreed policies, procedures and management techniques at all times.
2. Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of care.
3. Encourage health promotion within care strategies.
4. Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
5. Promote a positive image for residency/services provided and employment within The Home.
Management of the Human Resources:
1. Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees.
2. Assist individual staff members to develop in their roles and levels of compliance with agreed standards.
3. Support the implementation of The Home's policies and procedures.
4. Support the effective resolution of team conflicts.
5. Support a work atmosphere which promotes a high quality of work life.
6. Support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence.
Job postings - must be 18 as will be providing personal care.
Access to transport and a telephone are essential due to the location and nature of the job.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an enhanced CRB disclosure employee to meet the cost.
Employer will reimburse the cost with first pay.
If employee leaves within 6 months, CRB cost will be re-cooped. The Employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010.
